The Tignes team have been enjoying the amazing conditions on the glacier for nearly a month now. Tess and Joe spent a week training Slalom with Olympian Alain Baxter, Ant has been working hard with the Mini-Gap group and Amy is finishing her fourth week of Eurotest training. The Espace Killy lifts opened up to the public this weekend and the Team made the most of it with a Tignes Team ski that got a little more adventurous than planned….

To celebrate the opening and to get all those off to Tignes this year excited and prepared, here’s a little rundown of some of our tips for skiing in Tignes!

Ski Hire & Servicing

Get a discount as a friend of New Gen

Mountain Attitude Tignes

Head to Mountain Attitude on the Rue de la Poste in Le Lac for all things ski related. Friends of New Gen can book ski hire in advance online and receive 5% off using the code ‘newgen’. Alternatively, for any purchases in the shop you are entitled to 10% off. They specialize in off-piste and touring equipment so if you like to break trail, start in Mountain Attitude!

Food and Drink

For an après ski session in the sun head to the Loop Bar in Le Lac. Just off the piste (opposite the Rosset Chairlift) and sporting a great sun terrace it’s the perfect way to enjoy a demi or two after a good day on the hill.

If you’re missing home (which I very much doubt you will be!) make your way to the Marmot Arms for a drink with a slightly more British feel. It’s right by the Palafour lift on the Rue de la Poste so easily accessible after a days skiing.

For great food and arguably the best coffee in Tignes (it’s run by Italians so it must be good!) Jam Bar is the bar for you. It’s located right by the Marmot Arms on the Rue de la Poste.

Best coffee in town!

Visit Tignes Cuisine (next to the Loop Bar/opposite the Rosset Chairlift) for “fast and fun” Asian dishes. The menu gets bigger in the evening offering food from India, China, Malaysia and Thailand, offering a change from the usual bread and cheese!

For Chalet night off or for an evening treat book a table at Clin D’Ooeil on the main strip in Le Lac. It’s a small, intimate restaurant so you will need to book in advance, but it’s worth it for the irresistible.

Best Piste

For the more advanced/adventurous skiers, don’t leave Tignes without skiing the Golf. It’s Tignes’ nature ride piste, an ungroomed black run, providing a great challenge for the week.
