Val Thorens is one of the most snow sure resorts in France. Typically Val Thorens will experience over 6.5 meters of snowfall annually. The high level of annual snowfall combined with Val Thorens high elevation means that snow conditions often stay fresher for longer.

Val Thorens is an ideal place for a beginner’s introduction to skiing due to the often superb snow conditions, good weather, and easy access to any of the 11 beginner runs. It is also perfect for those looking for more technical skiing, as Val Thorens is home to 51 Red runs and 14 Black runs.

The transfer from Chambery is 1h30 (117km), from Geneva it is 2h30 (148km), from Grenoble it is 2h15 (188km) and from Lyon it is 2h15 (194km). These transfer times will however vary depending on the weather conditions with heavy snow fall effecting transfer times. At an altitude of 2300 meters, Val Thorens is the highest resort within the Les 3 Vallees ski area.

Val Thorens is part of the largest lift linked ski area in the world. As part of Les 3 Vallees ski area Val Thorens has a massive amount of terrain to ski, being home to approximately 600 kilometers of groomed pistes and 183 lifts. You can find all of these on the Val Thorens Piste Map.

Chambery is the closest airport to Val Thorens, other options slightly further away include Geneva airport, Lyon airport and Grenoble airport. These airports will, however have more variety in terms of airline, dates of travel and departure airports.
