Off Piste Ski

“Our guide, Davide, was really inspiring. Clearly very passionate about the sport and a very talented individual. We feel very lucky to have had him share his ski touring expertise with us.”

Samuel Reitterer-Barbour

“The individual instructor that we used as both tutor and guide knew the mountains extremely well, both on and off piste. Avalanche pack and responder provided for off-piste activities. Would highly recommend and will definitely return to NG.”

Sara James

“Very nice instructor Pascal showed us some very special off piste runs. Great tips and advice aswell. If we come back to Tignes we will book him for more days!”

What to Expect

Our off-piste lessons run in 4 different levels, ensuring that each session is tailored to meet your unique needs. At the start of each lesson, your qualified instructor will check that you’ve got the appropriate ski gear and avalanche equipment.

In our intro to off-piste lesson, you’ll learn to navigate off-piste terrain and how to use avalanche equipment. This knowledge is crucial for staying safe as you embark on new adventures. You’ll receive personalised guidance and constructive feedback from your instructor, helping you to ski confidently in all conditions.

These sessions are designed to help you to build confidence in your abilities. With insider knowledge from instructors who know the local mountains, you’ll discover the best routes tailored to your skill level. Plus, you’ll enjoy a friendly and social atmosphere, allowing you to connect with fellow learners. Get ready for fun and laughter along the way as you practice your newfound skills in exciting new terrain.

What To Expect Off Piste Lessons

Tips for Off-Piste Ski Lessons

  • Ensure you’ve got comfortable ski boots that fit well and are the right size. This can make or break a day on the slopes.
  • Make sure your skis are in good condition and have been serviced (this should be done by the rental shop).
  • Learning a new skill can be tiring, regardless of age or ability. Take breaks, as your legs will fatigue, especially in deep snow.
  • Mileage and confidence are key for skiers. So, practice outside your lessons.
  • Start on terrain you feel comfortable with.
  • Gradually increase the difficulty. Ensure you have solid foundations before tackling new skills and steeper, more challenging slopes.
  • If something shakes your confidence, try again the next day.
  • Don’t give up.
  • If you’d prefer coaching for one person, we recommend booking a private ski lesson. You’ll get more time with the instructor for personalized feedback.

What to bring

  • Skis and poles.
  • Ski boots that are compatible with the bindings your are using.
  • Lift pass.
  • Wear appropriate clothing – warm and waterproof jacket and trousers.
  • A helmet.
  • Goggles or sunglasses.
  • Gloves.
  • Suncream.
  • Cash for a drink or lunch if we stop at a refuge.
  • A snack in your pocket.
  • Backpack.
  • Avalanche equipment – Transceiver, shovel, probe (if you have them – if not these can be borrowed from us. Please let us know in advance).
  • A working phone – fully charged.

It’s good practice, but not essential to carry your own:

  • Basic first aid kit.
  • Spare pair of gloves.
  • Buff/snood.
  • Spare batteries.
  • Tool / Allen key for adjusting bindings or boots.

Save our office number and emergency numbers to your phone beforehand:
