Our Off-Piste Essentials course is for strong piste skiers, ready to explore beyond the marked runs. If you’ve flirted with the edges of the pistes but haven’t ventured further, this course is your perfect next step.

What You’ll Learn:

• Understanding Avalanche Safety – Get to know your avalanche safety equipment and learn how to use it.
• Skill Development – On-piste exercises and drills designed to build the foundational skills needed for off-piste skiing.
• Adapting to Conditions – Learn to ski in varying snow conditions and apply these skills in off-piste settings.
• Terrain Navigation – Receive an introduction to reading and understanding terrain, enabling you to choose safe travel routes when skiing off-piste.

Equipment Needed:

Off-Piste Technique Booster

Boost your off-piste game with our Technique Booster course. It’s for skiers who have tried off-piste before or finished our Off-Piste Essentials course. This course is perfect if you’re already familiar with avalanche safety equipment. And, comfortable on all marked runs, no matter the conditions.

What You’ll Experience:

• Avalanche Safety Refresher – Refresh your knowledge of avalanche safety equipment.
• Snowpack Analysis – Learn to dig a snow pit and understand the layers. Your instructor will guide you through reading the snow story beneath your feet. A crucial skill for making informed decisions off-piste.
• Skill Enhancement – Develop the necessary skills to ski current snow conditions confidently.
• Practical Application – Use your skills on off-piste terrain. Focus on fun and exploration. Learn to manage your speed through turn shaping and master the art of picking and skiing your line.
• Off-Piste Best Practice – Learn to ski safely off-piste. This includes managing a group. Picking safe places to stop and regroup and choosing lines that minimize exposure.

Learn to Ski Tour

Our Learn to ski tour course is for strong piste skiers who want to explore further. It provides a safe, guided introduction to ski touring. Letting you learn the key skills while staying near familiar runs. You will have the comfort of knowing a groomed descent is always an option.

What You’ll Cover:

• Explanation of the equipment and how it works
• How to use the equipment on and off-piste, and the basic skills required for touring uphill.
• How to pace yourself, move efficiently and conserve your energy
• How to step/kick turn
• How to adjust your technique when descending on a lightweight touring setup

Requirements:

• Fitness level – Able to ski for 6 hours (with a break) You can stand back up by yourself after a fall.

Equipment required:

Skis with touring bindings, skins, and safety gear. Transceiver, shovel, and probe. We can provide Transceiver, Shovel and Probe if requested at time of booking.
