The best ski apps for skiing this winter

These days, it’s rare to not have your smartphone within arms reach. So we thought it might be good to share our favourite ski apps. Here at New Generation Ski School, we think they’ll certainly make your ski holiday easier, safer and more fun!

Portes du Soleil

The ultimate app for exploring Les Portes du Soleil (specifically Morzine & Avoriaz). Enjoy the interactive piste map with open slopes and lifts. See live webcams and track your own GPS position, to help organise meeting up with friends. You can keep track of weather and snow conditions, set alerts to fresh snow and temperatures to help you dress for a day in the sunshine for example.

The Portes du Soleil Winter app also has emergency contact numbers and useful information. Take advantage of the events calendar to know everything about the area and suggestions for itineraries to explore the whole resort.

Ski Tracks

This extremely battery-efficient app does the basics, but it does them extremely well. It’s similar to Strava in that it monitors all of your performance from a day on the slopes. It can even sync to your apple watch to provide data on speed, distance and time spent skiing or boarding. Please note, this app is not free.

Three Valleys

Find all the essential information about the 3 Valleys ski area and its 7 resorts: Courchevel, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle.It’s ergonomic and intuitive, the official application of the 3 Valleys. The app tells you everything you need to know about the largest ski area in the world, allowing all users, whether they know the ski area or not, to view the essential information for their day of skiing at a glance!

Go Pro Quick

In just a few taps, GoPro Quik brings your favourite memories to life by producing cinematic auto-edits.
