Get to Know Malte
Hey there! I’m Malte Hjortkjær, a ski instructor who’s super passionate about the slopes, even though I grew up in the flat landscapes of Denmark. My skiing adventure kicked off at six during family trips to Norway. While Denmark isn’t exactly known for its mountains, skiing quickly became a huge part of my life. I even went to a boarding school focused on skiing, where I completed my first instructor course. Since finishing high school, I’ve spent three full winters sharing my love for skiing in the mountains.
When I’m not on the slopes, I’m all about freeriding, always hunting for fresh powder off-piste. And when the snow isn’t fresh, you’ll catch me working on my technique on the groomed runs—definitely a skiing nerd at heart! One of my favorite skiing memories? Passing my recent ski instructor exam—it really shows how hard work pays off.
Becoming a ski instructor was a no-brainer for me because I love skiing and want to share that joy with others. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing my guests succeed and develop their own passion for skiing.
When I’m not in the snow, I enjoy sailing and I’m a certified sailing instructor. In the summer, I stay active with running, cycling, and strength training. Oh, and here’s a fun fact: I play the saxophone!
