Duncan is a superb guide and an even better teacher

"Absolutely fantastic day. Duncan is a superb guide and an even better teacher. He was brilliant in sharing his knowledge. I will definitely be booking him again on my next trip."

Jamison Muncer

Such a lovely guy

"Duncan from NewGen came and guided us around Verbier as it was our first time there. Was such a lovely guy, my three sons all got on really well with him and we all enjoyed being guided round by him."

Matt Stephens

The off-piste lessons were fantastic

"The off piste lessons with Ida and Duncan were fantastic. There was a perfect balance between guiding and instruction. They were able to find some great powder and advise correctly in variable conditions. I also felt more confident due to their feedback and encouragement. I would highly recommend New Generation and hope to have more lessons next year. "

Get to Know Duncan

Hello! I’m Duncan Halliday, though most people call me Dunx. Skiing has been a passion of mine since I was five, a love kindled by my parents on the majestic slopes of the Munros in Scotland. Since those early days, I’ve been fortunate to carve tracks across the globe, from the rugged beauty of Scotland to the iconic Alps and even the powdery expanses of Asia.

Freeride skiing is my jam when I’m not instructing, and my fondest memory has to be descending la Grand Central Couloir of Le Face Nord of the Bellocote on a pristine January morning. It’s moments like these that fuelled my desire to become a ski instructor—there’s nothing quite like sharing the exhilaration of the mountains with others.

As an instructor, my greatest joy is guiding guests to discover the magic of skiing, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals, no matter the weather. A surprising fact about me is that I enjoy skiing and snowboarding equally, bringing a balanced perspective to my teaching.

When the snow melts, you’ll find me running a surf company in beautiful Donegal, Ireland, swapping skis for surfboards. My summers are spent catching waves and cycling the scenic roads.
