My Story
My name is Ryan, and I’m from the East Coast of Australia. I grew up in Sydney and lived briefly in Melbourne before starting my career as a ski instructor. Now, I do back-to-back winters between Thredbo, Australia and Verbier, Switzerland.
I’ve taken a particular interest in the coaching pathway within ski instructing. I enjoy developing a unique coach/athlete relationship with everyone I coach, and I relish the challenge of discovering how to help them develop as best as possible.
I firmly believe that everyone needs a good explanation of “what” they need to do and “how” to do it. This “how” will be different for every athlete based on their feelings and thoughts while skiing. The challenge of good coaching is to find the right “how” for each individual person.
Outside of skiing, my number 1 hobby is surfing. You’ll find me on the South Coast of NSW at the beach any day I’m not on snow. I also love keeping up with all the main Aussie sports – AFL, NRL and cricket.
In addition to being a ski instructor, I’m a physiotherapist and specialise in concussion management. Working in the ski industry, I am particularly interested in ACL injuries – I see so many of them! The research in concussion and ACL injuries is developing and changing rapidly, so it’s a very exciting space in the medical world.
