Tignes Off Piste Courses

Tignes

Tignes, part of the Espace Killy ski area, is renowned for its varied and extensive off-piste terrain. The resort’s unique blend of diverse terrain, reliable snow conditions, and breathtaking scenery makes it an incredible base for off-piste courses.

The resort has everything from vast open faces to challenging couloirs and hidden powder stashes, making it the perfect playground for experienced skiers and snowboarders. If you know where to look, there is also some incredible tree skiing.

Our Expert courses here go far beyond skiing the classics. You’ll get to see the resort from a different perspective. Skiing less common variations of runs and exploring little known areas.

The altitude ensures reliable snow conditions, and a large amount of the off-piste is quickly and easily accessible from the lifts, with limited hiking.

The course doesn’t include accommodation, but Tignes offers a wide range of options, from budget-friendly apartments to luxury chalets. So, you can choose the type of accommodation that suits your needs and budget. However, unless you’ve a car, we don’t suggest staying in Tignes les Brevieres.

What to expect

The perfect off-piste course for competent on-piste skiers looking to make their first turns away from the marked runs. If you’ve explored skiing at the side of the piste but have yet to venture any further, this is also an excellent course for you.

Our approach seamlessly combines exceptional teaching with expert guidance, creating a win-win scenario for all participants. Our Intro courses focus primarily on skill development. You’ll spend time learning how to use essential safety equipment and the basics of avalanche safety before starting to explore suitable off-piste terrain. Some time will also be spent on piste to develop skills and test your technique.

We’ll continuously adjust the focus between instruction and guiding to accommodate varying ski levels, weather conditions, snow quality, and individual needs. You’ll learn technical skills while soaking in breathtaking landscapes, incredible descents, and the best of everything the resort has to offer.

What you’ll cover

  • What avalanche safety equipment is and how to use it
  • Basic avalanche search and rescue techniques
  • On-piste exercises and drills to develop the skills essential for off-piste skiing
  • The skills needed to ski the current snow conditions and put these into practice off-piste

“Gavin carefully built up our skills/technique so we could confidently manage more variable and challenging terrain, and matched the off piste terrain to our level, but also encouraged us to tackle terrain that we thought was outside our ability, but discovered due to his coaching we could manage.”
