Whippersnappers

Introducing the ultimate group ski lessons for the youngest adventurers in Verbier. Our whippersnapper’s sessions are designed specifically for little ones, lasting just 2 hours each day. This shorter format helps our instructors manage their energy levels while ensuring they have a blast on the slopes.

At this stage, the focus is all about fun. We’ll make sure your children have a positive first experience in the snow, getting them familiar with the weather, proper clothing, and equipment. As any parent knows, once they’re too tired or uncomfortable, the fun can quickly come to an end.

By the end of the week, your child may be linking turns, controlling their speed, and stopping with confidence. They’ll also get a taste of using ski lifts. Our main goal is to spark their excitement for skiing and get them eager to return to the slopes.

What to expect from your children’s ski lessons

Pre-Lesson Information: A few days before your lessons in Verbier, you’ll receive an email with essential details, including the meeting point, a downloadable map of the area, and resort-specific information. Keep this email readily available for quick access.

First-Day Arrivals: Please arrive 10 minutes early for the sign-in process that prioritizes safety. Instructors will evaluate your child’s experience level and equipment to ensure a smooth start.

Equipment: Each child will be issued a New Generation bib for easy identification. Helmets are mandatory for all participants, and goggles are recommended for added warmth and visibility on the slopes.

End of Week: Throughout the week, children will gain hands-on experience using various lifts, including drag lifts, chairlifts, T-bars, and gondolas. At the end of the program, they will receive a certificate, a medal, and a progress passport to commemorate their achievements.

Snacks: Don’t forget to pack a snack! Alternatively, you can provide 6€ / 6CHF for delicious hot chocolate during breaks to keep the energy up.

What To Expect Kids Ski Lessons

Tips for kids ski lessons

Pick the Right Ski School: Find ski schools with experienced instructors who know how to teach kids. It’s a bonus if they have instructors who speak your child’s language and are used to working with young learners.

Get the Right Clothing and Gear: Dress your child in layers to handle temperature changes throughout the day. Make sure they have a snug helmet, a waterproof ski jacket, and pants to keep them warm and dry. Renting good quality ski gear can save you money, especially since kids grow out of equipment so quickly.

Keep Energy Up: Kids can wear out fast in the cold. Sending them with small snacks can provide quick energy boosts when they need it.

Making Sure It’s Fun: Skiing should be a blast! To mix things up, add some playtime with snowball fights or building snowmen. Help your child see skiing as an adventure instead of a chore. Switching to other activities like sledding or ice skating can also spark their interest in skiing again.

Why Ski Lessons Matter: Professional lessons are super helpful for kids since they learn better from instructors who give structured guidance. Lessons help them pick up proper techniques and safety while letting them practice with friends.

What to bring

All children taking group lessons with New Gen must be suitably dressed.

  • Helmets are compulsory for all children.
  • Layers are advised so they can add or remove them if need be as children can get cold quickly.
  • The glare from the snow can be strong, even on cloudy days so make sure they are wearing sunglasses or goggles at all times and are wearing high SPF suncream on any exposed skin.
  • We also suggest you give them a snack and some money for a hot chocolate for lessons longer than 2hrs, as they will usually stop for a break.
  • Check they have their lift pass in a left hand pocket before you leave.
  • Poles are a tricky one as no two groups are the same and they progress at different rates. Poles normally come free with ski rental so we would advise that you take them even if they don’t use them. Whippersnappers will not need poles, but for all other groups your child’s instructor will be able to tell you if and when they might use them. It  is usual that beginners may not use poles in their initial lessons.
