New Year’s Eve parties can bring their own special kind of pressure.

It can be a logistical nightmare with extortionate taxi fares, where you always seem to end up with FOMO (fear of missing out). BUT ski holidays over New Year are a perfect break – you can get good conditions and there’s a wonderful party atmosphere in resort ready and waiting. If you’re looking for Ski Resort New Year’s Eve parties, you’re not at a loss for options. We’ve pulled together the low down on the best bars and parties for New Year in our resorts – straight from the teams who live and work here every year.

Best Ski Resort New Year’s Eve Parties

New Year’s Eve Party in Courchevel 1650 Moriond

We love Le Portetta Fire and Ice bar – you can snuggle under a fur rug and watch the sun slide behind the mountains at après (half price drinks between 4-6pm). Nothing beats a traditional Savoyard meal at the Bar Le Schuss and then, if you still have the energy, get your groove on at The Funky Fox until the wee hours.

Courchevel 1850 New Year’s Party and Fireworks

Courchevel doesn’t do a party by half and New Year’s Eve is no exception. The party on the piste in front of La Croisette building kicks off from 9pm with a DJ and performers on stilts. Fireworks are at midnight and (if you can brave the bus queue, or snow shoe down the hill) L’Elephant in Le Praz 1300 has a live band.

New Year’s Eve in La Tania

La Tania puts on a wonderful fireworks show (great for families – bring a flask of hot chocolate to keep little hands warm). For a special meal we’d recommend La Taiga in La Tania but if dancing – sometimes on tables! – to live music is more your bag, then head to Pub Le Ski Lodge. And countdown to the midnight in the town centre in front of a large lit up tree! Friendly and lively atmosphere, and no pricey door tickets.

For something more upscale, head down to Le Praz for the Azimut’s New Year’s Eve dinner. They have a special menu each New Year, and this cozy little restaurant puts out some high quality food, always with friendly service.

Méribel New Year’s Eve Party

Start your night at a quick spot of après at either the Rond Point or Folie Douce before the torch light descent down to the Chaudanne area and fireworks at midnight. You are spoilt for bars in Meribel, such as JacksDicks Tea Bar, or Barometer to name a few- and with everything close to hand you can really soak up the party vibe.

Or if you want to splurge a little, La Folie Douce puts on a special evening with dinner and a show. Although a bit on the pricey side, you will get a fab view of the Meribel fireworks whilst indulging in foods like lobster tempura, veal wellington and 100% Folie Douce chocolate. Head up in the gondola at 7pm for a full evening there until midnight strikes.

Morzine New Year’s Events

Fireworks are on display early for the little ones at 6:30pm in the Stade du Pleney. Then the adult party begins with an open-air DJ in front of the tourist office until 9pm. Head to Le Cottage Hotel & Bar for a live performance from Zuri Aura as well as some tasty drink specials. Planks Clothing will also be sponsoring so you may have a chance to win some stash!

St Martin de Belleville: New Year’s Eve low down

With a local, friendly atmosphere St Martin offers a great alternative 3 Valley New Year’s Eve. The 3 bars in resort The Piano Bar, The Joker and The Billing have a mixture of fab food, live music and dancing to the wee hours – we can’t pick between them. And the local mayor puts on fireworks at midnight for everyone to enjoy.

The BIGGEST New Year’s Eve party in Tignes

Tignes has the BIGGEST free outdoor party in Europe – based down in Tignes Le Lac opposite the Maison de Tignes. Star DJ Joachim Garraud is landing in Tignes for the unmissable fire mix party with show of electro-music. For one night only you can park on the side of the road (though you’ll need to turn up by lunch to get a spot), though the local mayor put on free bus links so transport is good.

Ski Resort New Year's Eve Val d'Isere

The Doudoune, Val d’Isere

Val d’Isère New Year’s Eve party

Known as a great party destination, Val d’Isere never disappoints at New Year. There’s a real mix of bars and clubs to suit everyone’s tastes. From the Doudoune which rivals London night clubs with top DJs and dance tunes all night, to the chilled out Blue Note or Moris bar. Nearly all clubs / bars are ticketed, and you should expect to pay 10€ – 30€ on the door or as a donation to a local charity.

Peisey Vallandry Les Arcs New Year’s Eve

If you are planning on being in Vallandry for New Year’s Eve we’d suggest heading to Bar Mont Blanc. Turn up at 8pm so you won’t miss out and have plenty of time to enjoy the fireworks at 1am – a UK New Year in France.

Val Thorens’ Val Tho Crazy Night

Nobody parties like Val Thorens… Head into the Place Caron in the centre of resort for Val Tho Crazy Night. With live videos and DJs along with fireworks at midnight, a torchlight descent in the evening, a freestyle show and activities for the kids. You will definitely ring in the new year in style in Val Thorens.

THE New Year’s Eve party in Verbier

New Year’s Eve in Verbier is not for the faint hearted, especially if you want to spend it in a bar. Tickets for clubs like Hotel Farinet start at 200chf and a table could set you back 2,000chf at the Farm. So we’d recommend visiting these bars before 7pm for après and then heading to the main square in resort. Everyone congregates here for live DJ music and the fireworks – bring a flask of hot chocolate or vin chaud to keep you warm and watch out for the snowball fight midnight. And if you’re lucky enough to be staying at the W Hotel you can enjoy their in house night club.

New Year’s in St Anton

St. Anton is a great place to celebrate new year’s, you can get started in the early afternoon, check out the Krazy Kanguruh when you ride back to St. Anton. After Krazy K, you can go a little further down to the Mooserwirt for another drink. There will be fireworks in the Dorfstrasse in the middle of the village with plenty of bars open until the small hours.

New Year’s Day ski

For us the New Year’s day ski is just as important as the midnight celebrations. We’ve limited availability in some of our resorts so give us a shout if you haven’t yet booked your ski / snowboard adventures. The pistes are usually empty first thing so it’s definitely worth getting up early.
