Read time: 9 mins

Taking a family ski holiday is an exciting way to create cherished memories, enjoy outdoor activities, and introduce your children to the joys of winter sports. Yet, any parent will tell you that skiing with little ones presents some challenges. From keeping young kids entertained to ensuring toddlers are safely cared for while parents hit the slopes, childcare can make or break a family ski holiday.

To help you plan your dream trip without the stress, we’ve rounded up the best European ski resorts with childcare facilities. You’ll find everything you need to know, from crèches to family-friendly staff and activities. Let’s take a closer look!

What Makes a Ski Resort Family-Friendly?

Not all ski resorts are created equal, especially when it comes to accommodating families. Here are the key features that make a resort ideal for parents and children alike:

1. High-Quality Childcare Facilities

Look for professional nurseries, ski crèches, and babysitting services made specifically for younger children. Resorts with trained childcare staff and secure facilities offer parents peace of mind.

2. Kids’ Ski Schools

A good family ski destination will have ski schools tailored to children, complete with patient and experienced instructors to ensure little ones feel comfortable on the slopes.

Explore our Kids’ Ski Schools page for information about available ski lessons and helpful tips for kids’ skiing.

3. Non-Ski Activities for Kids

Not every child enjoys skiing all day, and not all toddlers are ready to strap on skis. The best family resorts curate exciting activities, such as indoor play areas, tobogganing, or storytelling.

4. Family-Friendly Accommodations

Family-oriented hotels and chalets often provide spacious rooms or interconnecting suites, discounted meal plans for kids, and other amenities that make life easier for parents.

5. Safety and Accessibility

Gently sloping beginner runs near the base, minimal ski traffic, and plenty of lifts with safety features ensure families can enjoy their holiday without undue worry.
