Ask us when is the best time to come to the Alps and it’s easy to argue that January is the way forward. Okay, it may not be as warm as March or April but pop on a thicker jacket and factor in an extra hot chocolate stop to your day and all of a sudden it’s no problem. The great thing about January is that the slopes are quiet, the snow is good and as an extra bonus, you can really grab bargain. And we think Tignes is one of the best resorts to do so.
Head to Tignes in January for a snowy break
We’re lucky here in Tignes – even when we experience a dry and warm December like the one that’s just passed, there is still plenty of terrain to enjoy. We sit at 2100m and have a glacier to boot so we’re snow-sure. The pisteurs have been doing an amazing job in keeping the resort in tip-top condition for holiday makers despite the lack of snowfall over the past month. All in all, it’s hard to go wrong in Tignes for a January break.
The snow has now started falling in abundance and with 1-2m due this week, January is now promising to deliver some great skiing. Tignes has already had over 40cm in the last 72 hours and has 1.2m predicted for the next four days! Pistes are looking great and off piste is starting to get there as well.
Looking to come out last minute? Get in touch with The Tignes Chalet Company and you can enjoy ski to your door accommodation in the heart of the famous Espace Killy at a fraction of the cost of Tignes’ sister resort, Val D’Isere. Other great chalet companies we recommend are Ski World, White Horizons and Ski Bug.
So grab a last minute bargain and come and join us. Throughout January we have some intro to off-piste sessions as well as lessons and guiding for beginners to the most serious of powder hounds. We’re here to help you get the most out of your snowy getaway so get booking! See you on the snow…
