Our Val d’Isere Ski School is full of energetic instructors who thrive outdoors and have a passion for teaching. You can usually find out team; ski touring at sunrise, up-cycling old ski kit or powder skiing off-piste with their dogs. Chambery is the closest airport to Val D’Isere, just under 2 hours away via airport transfer. Most guests fly to Geneva or Lyon as there is a greater choice of flights and prices.

If you’re a complete beginner, head towards either the beginners area in La Daille or the one in the centre of resort. It’s perfect for both kids and adults who are new to skiing.
With such a large ski area comes the huge variety of pistes. If you’re a beginner, intermediate or expert skier looking for a challenge off-piste; there is something for everyone in Val d’Isere.

Val d’Isère ski resorts sits at 1850 altitude. It’s famous for being one of the most reliable ski resorts for snow in Europe, due to its high altitude and deep valley where the snow is protected from other elements like sun and wind.
Is Val d’Isère snow-sure?
60% of the slopes in Tignes & Val d’Isère are over 2500m meaning it is a very snow-sure resort. The valley itself where Val d’Isère is located, is narrow with steep walls meaning it has its own little microclimate at the end of the valley. Making for snowy conditions all winter long. It sure makes the town look very picturesque!
Is Val d’Isère expensive?
Val d’Isère is in the higher price bracket, when it comes to ski resorts. Like any holiday, you can make it as expensive or budget as you please. Val d’Isère does have many private chalets in stunning locations with a team of staff on hand to help with anything you need. But there also smaller self-catered apartments if that’s more your style.
If you do want to visit the Espace Killy ski area, but have a smaller budget, we’d suggest considering Tignes as another option as it’s slightly cheaper resort with access to the same ski area.
