New Years in the Alps is a magical time. Resorts go all out with their firework displays and there are a number of bands playing, torchlit descents, and activities for kids to keep everyone entertained. Things will be different this year, but there’ll still be the same magical atmosphere. Happy 2020 everyone – let’s hope 2021 has something better in store!

Courchevel 2020
Christmas
Noël, Noël, an enchanted week with a magical atmosphere suitable for all ages. Christmas themed gondola rides from Courchevel 1650 from 21/12 – 04/01. Free of charge & runs daily from 10am – 7pm.On Dec 22nd Father Christmas visits La Tania!
New Years

Méribel
Christmas
Although COVID-19 has forced lots of parties to be cancelled, Méribel still has lots in store for you. On December 21st there will be a Christmas band playing in Mottaret and Méribel centre from 3 – 5.45pm. On December 23rd there will be a jazz band and on December 24th there will be a Christmas parade in Méribel centre. There will also be fireworks on 24/12 at 8pm to celebrate Christmas.
New Years Eve
Méribel will bring the party to your own chalet this year. They are putting on a huge firework display, that everyone can enjoy from the comfort of your chalet or balcony! Music will be played and there will be a fantastic atmosphere. The fireworks will be set off at Tougnète mid-station at midnight.
There will be a torchlit descent at 6.30 pm in Méribel Mottaret, Méribel Chaudanne and Méribel Village. There will also be a DJ set up in Mottaret playing hits from the past 30 years.
Free and open to all, with special shuttles until 02:00.
Morzine
Christmas
The best local produce on show at the Morzine market. It’s on every Wednesday with meat, fish, fruit & veg, cheese, charcuterie…but also clothing and shoes. Ice skating will be available, outside the tourist office from 10-12 & 2-6pm 7 days a week.
The Tourist Office animation team will ensure entertainment on this area from 4-6/7pm every weekday. The horse riding centre, Alpes equitation will be open for pony rides and pony activities in the snow. And also horse drawn sleigh rides : Rachel Marullaz offers rides every afternoon.
New Years 2020
Fireworks, but awaiting validation from the Préfecture. If authorized they will be visible from different accommodation in order to avoid bringing people together.
Tignes
Christmas
On Christmas Eve morning there will be a market in Tignes Le Lac. On Christmas Day there will be a run and slide sledging course for adults and kids to play on. That will be at Le Lac snow front. There will also be snowshoeing, husky sled tours, ice skating, snow mobiling and trampolining.

This year, the twinkling lights on the giant Christmas tree will illuminate the very heart of the village. Elves will prepare for Christmas Eve by carving out presents in ice. Try out a different type of sledging activity every day. Discover our village on one of the many guided tours, exhibitions and nature walks.
And don’t forget that Santa Claus will be coming to town in his magic sleigh.

Usually we’d be encouraging everyone to get up early on New Year’s Day and ski off that hangover! But as the lifts aren’t open, we suggest enjoying time with your loved ones and going for a long walk in the snowy forest. Happy New Year Everyone. Bring on 2021!
